Free Spay Neuter/Vouchers: Still available at ENR Office.

GRID Alternatives : Thank you to everyone who signed up for free solar panels through GRID Alternatives. Funding changes affected eligibility, and Bear River participated in a petition to get it reinstated, so we will let residents know if/when funding becomes reavailable.

However, in May, the ENR Department applied for a grant through the Tribal Solar Accelerator Fund that will include solar training- stay tuned!

About the Feral Cat Project: A project between Bear River and Humboldt Spay/Neuter Network to spay and neuter feral (stray) cats on the Rancheria to prevent the births of feral kittens and eventually reduce the feral cat population began in April.

HSNN will be trapping feral cats on the Rancheria and transporting them to their clinic in Eureka where they will be fixed, vaccinated for rabies, and treated for parasites. The cats will also be evaluated to determine whether they are tame or feral. Cats that are determined to be tame will be placed into adoption programs.  The right ear of the feral cats will be tipped to mark them as a feral fixed cat, and they will be returned to the Rancheria.

Trapping days will be announced in advance on this website. If you are a cat owner, please keep your cat(s) indoors on these days, or place a collar on your pet so that it is not mistaken for a stray or feral. The ENR Department office at 120 Bowie Road has blue masking tape that can be used for temporary collars if needed.

The best way to prevent homeless animals is to make sure that your pet is spayed or neutered. Free vouchers are available at the ENR Department (2 per Tribal Member). If you have any questions or need free transportation to have your cat spayed or neutered, please contact Sarah, the ENR Assistant, at (707) 733-1900 X119.

If you are aware of stray cats on the Rancheria, please contact Jennifer Raymond of the Humboldt Spay/Neuter Network directly at (707) 442-1426 (cell) or (707) 442-7729 (office). Thank you for helping us to help these cats.

Free Indoor Air Quality Assessments coming soon! Find out if your home has radon (the second leading cause of lung cancer), mold, moisture damage, ventilation issues, and more. Contact the ENR Assistant at 707-733-1900 x119 for more information or to be first in line to have your home assessed!

Incident reporting: Please fill out the Online Environmental Incident Report Form to report any incidents that occur on the Rancheria after business hours. Environmental incidents may include damage to wetlands, sewage, chemical, and fuel spills, or other substances that can cause damage to the environment. If you would like to fill out a form in person, please stop by the ENR Department from 8 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday. Please report an incident within 24-hours from the time it occurred or was observed.
